Eligibility Requirements

  • Be destined to live and work in a province or territory outside Quebec
  • Have an offer of employment in either
    • A high-skilled occupation or
      • High-skilled occupations are considered to be those in
        the TEER category 0, 1, 2 or 3.
    • A low-skilled occupation
      • Low-skilled occupations are considered to be those in the TEER category 4 and 5.
        Exception: Applicants who have an offer of employment in a low-skilled occupation in a
        primary agriculture sector, are not eligible to apply for a work permit under this program.
  • Prove to an officer that they meet the French language proficiency (speaking and listening) at
    a CLB / NCLC level 5 or higher
  • The business must be actively operating in Canada, registered, and must be compliant with IRCC & ESDC in relation to hiring and employment of foreign workers.
  • Employer must be financially stable to cover the foreign worker salary.
  • Create an online job offer through the IRCC Employer Portal and obtain an offer of employment number that required for the work permit application of the temporary foreign worker.
  • Provide the foreign worker with a signed job offer letter that explicitly describes their role, including the job title, responsibilities, salary, and benefits.

What Are The Advantages for Francophone Speakers Under Express Entry

Francophones who achieve a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 or higher in French can earn an extra 50 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Those who score NCLC 7 or higher on all four French language skills and scored CLB 4 or lower in English (or didn’t take an English test) can earn extra 25 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Those who score NCLC 7 or higher on all four French language skills and scored CLB 5 or higher in all four English Skills can earn extra 50 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Family members and dependents for the Francophone Mobility Program

Dependent children of the main applicant can apply for study permits.
Spouses and common-law partners are also eligible for a spousal open work permit for the duration of the validity of the main applicant’s work permit.
